about

The Storm was written on a drive back from band practice in the middle of a summer Thunder storm. The rhythm of wipers was the initial inspiration as I imagined a tour weary trek home to a heart that may or may not be hospitable.

lyrics

These bald tires
they don't grip like they're supposed to
so many miles have word down the tread
and I thought distance might teach me not to miss you
but it's worn my resolve down instead
now lightning flashes in the distance
and I race it towards my empty bed
I'm not sure if I'm trying to beat the storm
or the loneliness in my head

This old car she's starting to sputter
she's seen better days I guess we both have
when I didn't fear the rumble of thunder
so sure I could stay my path
but now these clouds are rolling in
and I'm pushing faster than I should
I'm not sure if I'm trying to beat the storm
or what I'd do over if I could

The first drops
they're starting to spatter
before the wipers dash them awau
there's a soft his
as the sky splits
and I pull into your drive way
and for a moment I just stand there
let this cold water wash me clean
I'm not sure if I beat the storm
but I can't run from what you mean to me
